The international showjumping competition Zandhoven in the Belgian ‘Manege De Kraal’ will be the homebase of a new auction, the Flanders Youngsters Auction. Luk Van Puymbroeck and Valentijn De Bock, both reputable in the equestrian world of sport and breeding, have entered into a co-operation. In the first edition, on Friday September 16 eleven young showjumping horses will come under the hammer.
“I am completely confident that today there is a good market for 3- and 4-yr-old showjumping horses, that jump very well, have good X-rays and a good pedigree. Although the market seems to be saturated with auctions, we will try to find us a place”, says Luk Van Puymbroeck.
The selection standard for the first auction is high from the start. “All auctions claim, of course, that they offer unique and very good horses and our story is no different in that respect. But we really do have good jumpers that will please everyone. Not just from our own stables, but also entered by third parties. Main criteria were to be very good in free jumping, the second selection component is the X-rays. We have been very strict here and eleven horses had a clean slate.”
Online bidding beforehand is possible
At the auction the horses will be shown in hand to the public and this can also be followed via the live-streaming. The auction is planned for Friday-night September 16 at 20.00 hours CET, although the online auction will open two days earlier, when bids can already be placed.
Eye-catchers
There are offspring from Baloubet du Rouet, Kannan, Emerald, Cicero Z Van Paemel and Chacoon Blue, bred out of interesting lines and even out of sport mares that are winning at 1.45m level.
What to think of the 3-yr-old Nickelodeon QC (Nixon van ’t Meulenhof) out of the half-sister of the top-class sire Quabride L’Isle van Pedro Veniss. Or the 4-yr-old Koriana (Kannan x Bamako de Muze), granddaughter of the very well breeding Uriana van Klapscheut (1.50m GP).
The 3-yr-old Barco Z (Baloubet du Rouet x Darco), half-brother to a 1.50m and a 1.45m level showjumping horse is another big promise. Without any training beforehand, he made an enormously good impression on the video day. Siske D’Axey & DB (Bisquet Balou C x Inshallah de Muze) comes out of the much-winning Miu Miu van Overis (1.45m under Gilles Thomas) and is a half-sister of the World Cup mare HH Ciske van Overis (1.60m GP with Edwina Tops-Alexander). Grandam Uberta van Overis also produced two other 1.45m level showjumping horses. For fans of coloured horses, there is a 4-yr-old one, Mariano Sitte (Fidelgo du Houssoit), bred from the line of the 1.60m GP stallion and progenitor Ogano Sitte.
